HOW IT WORKS

Biote Bio-identical Hormone Replacement

Biote Logo

Regulating your hormones can rejuvenate your vitality, sensuality, and well-being. Hormonal fluctuations occur in both men and women at different stages of their lives. The declining hormone levels can significantly affect one’s quality of life.

Biote is a type of bio-identical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) that administers personalized amounts of biologically identical hormones via subcutaneous pellets. These pellets are derived from plants and closely resemble human hormones, in contrast to synthetic hormones that are artificially created.

What are the symptoms of hormone imbalances?

When there is an excess or deficiency of hormones in the bloodstream, it leads to hormonal imbalances. As hormones play a crucial role in various bodily functions, even a minor hormonal imbalance can result in side effects that affect our entire body.

FAQ’s

For the insertion of subcutaneous pellets, we begin by tailoring the dosage according to your age, weight, and initial hormone levels. When you lie on your side, we administer a small quantity of local anesthesia to the gluteal region before carefully placing the hormone pellets just beneath the skin. To close the minor incision, a steri-strip is applied without requiring stitches. The process lasts approximately five minutes for women and slightly longer for men.

After receiving the biote hormone therapy, most patients report improvement in their symptoms within 7 to 10 days.

We recommend refraining from swimming or taking baths for 5-7 days (though showering is acceptable). Additionally, avoiding strenuous activities such as heavy glute workouts, running, motorcycle rides, or long flights overseas for up to 7 days following the procedure is advised. Moreover, for men, we advise against placing a wallet in the back pocket on the same side as the insertion site.

Minor bruising or discomfort at the incision site may occur, which is more prevalent in males. Acne could appear, but it is highly treatable, and if it is an issue, we can adjust the dosage accordingly. It is also possible to experience accelerated hair growth. Any specific concerns can be discussed during your consultation.

While the absorption rates differ for each person, women usually experience symptom alleviation for 3-4 months with their pellets, whereas men tend to experience relief for 5-6 months. If you regularly exercise or expose yourself to heat, the duration may be shorter since absorption depends on cardiac output.

For women, we evaluate labs 6 weeks following their pellet insertion, while for men, we do so 4 weeks afterward. Subsequently, we typically conduct annual evaluations. After the lab assessments, we would like to schedule a follow-up appointment to ensure that you are receiving substantial improvement and symptom relief.

Office consultations and lab work are typically covered by most insurance plans. However, biote bio-identical hormone pellet therapy is not included in any insurance coverage and is an out-of-pocket, yet reasonably priced expense. As a result, we do not file insurance claims for this service.
